Manage DRM For PDF From Your Own Web Site

November 2010
DRM Portal Software For Your Own Web Site/Server

Brisbane, AU November 26, 2010 – CopySafe PDF Protector now has the capability of managing document rights access from your own website. CopySafe PDF Protector can be bundled with add-ons for the digital rights management of PDF and server side conversion from web page uploads.

The CopySafe PDF Protector software is the same program that is used in the CopySafe PDF Server. It is now available with add-ons to provide a simpler and more economical alternative for preventing the distribution of PDF documents. The Protector has been modified to convert PDF for DRM administration locally and to add their details to your online database manually.

The web management add-on will run on any Windows server that supports IIS, ASP and SQL databases. Installation is as simple as copying the files to the website and modifying a settings file. The administration console can be used for managing PDF documents that have been converted manually and also manage PDF documents that have been uploaded and encrypted server side using the DLL, which is another add-on that is used for interfacing the Protector from web pages.

Installation of the server side DLL for control of the CopySafe PDF Protection will require Administrator privileges, which means that a self-owned server is preferable or at least a web host that will allow the installation of new DLLs to their system. If this privilege is not available, then you will find that using the Protector locally for DRM and manually updating document records works just as well.

To maintain some consistency and quality for conversion of PDF, you can use the Universal Document Converter (UDC) to convert most document types to PDF including Microsoft Word documents, Microsoft Excel tables, Microsoft PowerPoint presentations and AutoDesk AutoCAD drawings. UDC is bundled as standard with CopySafe PDF Protector and runs as a printer-driver. With UDC installed, converting documents to PDF is as simple as sending to Print. Using UDC will ensure that PDF quality is maintained throughout the conversion/protection process. In addition, you will be able to cut expenses on the development and implementation of a corporate document flow system.
