Custom Branding
Although "Branding" and personalisation can be desirable as a means of promoting superiority, it is not recommended. Some of the problems being:
- With the advent of mobile phones there are now many different operating systems (OS) that will require a custom version.
- To avoid security risks, Android phones require that software be installed from Google Play.
- To avoid security risks, iPhones require that software be installed from the Apple Store.
- All devices now have security checks to verify the software maker via code signing and reputation.
- Most anti-virus software rely on their own (limited) database for reputation checks.
- Not only does one need to cater for all OS but also the quirks between different versions of those OS.
- Now ask your self how are you going to cater for updates?
- How soon can you rollout an update to cater for a major changes in OS core resources?
- Are you prepared to pay for the development of needed updates when the need arises?
