Safeguard Media is a plugin that is available for WordPress and Moodle websites to add copy protected media to web pages and posts. Safeguard Media allows the upload/selection of images, PDF and video for inclusion on existing web pages by displaying them in an iFrame. By using an iFrame, a web page hosted on the Safeguard Media server can be nested in your web page, enabling your page to use server side encryption with restricted viewing by ArtisBrowser, a secure web browser especially designed for copy protecting ASPS content.
Websites hosted on shared hosting services cannot install the ArtistScope Site Protection System (ASPS) (a dedicated server is required) and the Safeguard Media plugin provides the interface for using ASPS hosted on an ArtistScope server. Consequently this plugin provides much better all round protection than any other CMS plugin that can only rely on JavaScript. If that needs further explaining, realise that while JavaScript can action in a web browser to annoy site visitors by disabling some menu options, it is powerless to prevent screen shots and recording which are actioned at system level.
Below is the settings page for WordPress showing what options you can control from your dashboard:
The PDF veiewer that displays embedded PDF on your web page has been modified to remove options in the toolbar for save, download and print.
Here you can see the watermark applied. In this instance the watermark continually moves around the PDF area so that it is never in the same place. In this instance it is displaying the user's IP address and the date.
If bookmarks are provided in the PDF, the left hand column can be toggled to show them. Otherwise, you will notice that the user can explore pages, jump to bookmarks, zoom in and out, but they cannot save, copy or print from the PDF viewer. Nor can they save, copy or print from the ArtisBrowser.
