The term dashboard refers to the interface provided by online solutions (SaaS) for managing web hosting and content management systems (CMS).

A dashboard can be comprised of an index or a list of links, each opening another page designed to nominate and adjust settings and parameters for the solution that it manages.

For example a web hosting service might provide a "control panel" (dasboard) for owners contact details, account billing, access controls, and settings for the web site like mail server, email addresses, SSL certificate, etc.

CMS like WordPress or Moodle provide a dasboard that a site woener can log into that provided tools and edotors for creating and managing the various parts of the website like plugin installation, page creation, user management, etc.

Dasboards can also provide an overview of statistsics, for example: show graphs for various aspects like data usage, site visitors, available storage space, etc.

In a nutshell, a dasboard is where one starts, and where one can see an overview and/or access all controls pertaining to the service at hand.
