Best Copy Protection For LMS

Copy Protecting a LMS has never easier

And we don’t mean just preventing right mouse click for copy and save – which is what most think will actually prevent content theft. The methods and software available for copying, saving and recording online course material is endless, but how to find a solution that actually prevents all exploits?

Which LMS provides adequate copy protection?

The answer is none, because while they claim to prevent save and copy, all they are doing is disabling mouse options and disabling hot keys. The extent of exploits that can used to copy pages and media is too vast to list here – best to explore our website for those in your own time.

To which LMS can I add copy protection?

Yes, there are many solutions that can be added and some come as plugins – but in the end you are faced with limitations, a new learning curve and expensive fees for what might have been either falsely advertised or difficult to use with a lack of support.

What is the best solution for copy protecting any LMS?

If you have a dedicated server or VPS – all you need is the ArtistScope Site Protection System (ASPS) because it is compatible will any type of web page – which means that you can copy protect any LMS.

Not only will ASPS provide the most secure copy protection from all avenues of save, copy and recording, it will copy protect all and every type of media displayed on the web page.

Copy Protection and DRM

Copy protection prevents copy, but DRM prevents sharing and unauthorised use.

DRM is most recommended to prevent access to courses by unauthorised people, especially those sharing login/passwords. But you don’t need a DRM solution when you already have a member login system.

However that member system can easily be beefed up by recording the unique computer ID of the user – then once that is registered, no-one else will be able to login, even if they have correct username and password.

How DRM can work with LMS

To add DRM to your existing LMS all you need to do is add a new column to the ser table and couple of lines of code to your page header.

What makes it all possible is that the ASPS module encrypts web pages so that only the ArtisBrowser can access them and display their content. While an ASPS page is on display, nothing can be saved or copied in any way. Also, each user can be identified by their unique computer signature. No other web browser can do these things which is why providing access to popular web browsers is such a bad idea if you want to apply copy protection – not only do they try to hide a user’s identity, but they also provide inbuilt tools for content theft.

How ASPS copy protects LMS content

ASPS is a server module that monitors web pages delivered by the website. Pages that need to be protected can be tagged by adding a single line of code before its HTML. When the ASPS tagline is found, the page is encrypted.

Then when the ArtisBrowser finds that tagline it switches to Protect Mode and decrypts the web page to check its meta-tags for permissions – all sorts of permissions can be set such as kiosk mode, which OS is allowed access, and other viewing limitations.

ArtisBrowser is available for all computers and devices including mobile phones.

Proof Of Concept (POC)

As proof of concept, download the ArtisBrowser and return to click the banner at the top of this page - you will then be invited to provide a link to any web page and see just how effective copy protection for web content really can be!
